Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I learn new skills on a daily basis as I work with experienced engineers whom help me develop my knowledge by fixing and maintaining refrigeration and air conditioning systems. I am constantly learning new skills and experiences on the job from the help of peers around me and have to solve different problems.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
Since day 1, the programme has always kept me intrigued and I have enjoyed it as no 2 days are the same and I enjoy working with others, developing my own skills and gaining experience within the industry to better myself. Not only this but I enjoy it due to the help I get from peers and management.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
On a day to day basis, new problems arise that I am expected to tackle therefore the skills that I previously have are developed and not only this but I learn new skills and grow in confidence when working on these systems as the more experience I get then I can complete more tasks.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

Throughout my apprenticeship I’ve had massive support from my employer and whenever I require help then it is there whether it be from my manager or my peers in my section to help me evolve. Not only this but the opportunities the employer presents me gives me lots of chances to develop myself.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Working in first year at west college Scotland, I learned the basic still and health and safety of engineering which helped me understand what is required of me when I get into the workplace. When completing my theory qualifications I receive support to Whenever I struggle with questions or tasks.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
My qualification helps me perform better in my role as it helps me bring theory into practice with a perfect mix of both as I can see how it works then go into the workplace and put it into practice. Also if I don’t understand something I can ask questions to gain a better understanding before putting into practice
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
In second year in the apprenticeship, we were taken to an outward bounds centre to develop skills and relationships but not only this, within the work place there is lots of activities such as football games at lunch and other spots teams that you can get involved in to gain opportunities.
