Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

On a day-to-day basis my job involves carrying out important calculations, research and descriptions for the project I am on. It requires good communication within my team and daily calls and meetings updating and checking in with each other.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my programme a lot. I like working with experienced engineers and find the work I carry out very interesting and satisfying once completed.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I am much better at carrying out tasks such as calculations to the correct standard as well as having better communication skills with more practice on presenting.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

My uni/work balance varies a lot throughout the year. However I have been able to manage it well whilst working from home and have made sure the university provide good resources online if I am not able to attend due to work
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I feel I have a lot of support. I have my manager, mentor and early career advisor as well as other colleagues to turn to when needing help.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I have a learning mentor at university who helps me make sure I am on track for the end point assessment of my apprenticeship but they are also there for any extra support as well as the head of subject who checks in with apprentices.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My qualification helps with the basics and I am learning a lot from my job role with applying these basics to the nuclear industry
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Cavendish Nuclear?
Make sure to network with your colleagues in different areas of work as it is useful to have their contacts for future projects. In regards to the degree aspect - make sure you have good time management and are prepared to put in extra hours for revision
