Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role as a talent acquisition and recruitment marketing apprentice involves a variety of tasks across recruitment activity. My role is quite admin heavy, and involves arranging interviews, writing job descriptions, sourcing candidates, screening CVs, and answering general ad-hoc queries from candidates, agencies, and hiring managers. My role also involves helping in the onboarding process for new colleagues.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy it as I appreciate the ability to learn all areas of the recruitment industry and market, both internally and externally. Being trained properly in all the individual areas of the role enables me to do my job better, and having a wider understanding enables me to provide more context to the role.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt many new skills in recruitment including sourcing candidates and screening CVs. I have become more adept at analysing recruitment data and interpreting it. I have continued to develop my skills in communication, across various stakeholders such as candidates, hiring managers, and team members. I have also continued to develop skills in public speaking and team work.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
There is a good level of structure from the training provider side, taking place as a monthly training call and further work to do outside of session, with some freedom in the modules I take. Within my role, it was quite free in the way that I can experience different areas of recruitment if I want.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
A lot, I have a whole team of experience recruiters who are able to support me in any way I need, and are able to train or teach me in new things. I also have good support from my manager and other senior leaders within HR, aswell as having a whole apprenticeship forum and group to support.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I'm able to meet with my trainer once a month for a 2 hour training session, in which I learn about a variety of topics regarding the recruitment market and industry. I am given tasks to complete outside of sessions which help me to complete necessary requirements for the qualification.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I am able to carry out my role at a much higher standard with a wider industry knowledge and context. I am able to ensure I am carrying out my role in a way that complies with GDPR, and to know the correct way to communicate with candidates and hiring managers.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are a lot of networking events available. Direct Line Group supports a number of charities and even allow all colleagues allocated non working days for volunteering purposes. I have only joined the company during the pandemic so I haven't had the change to attend in-person events or activities.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Direct Line to a friend?
Yes
Why?
There is a really good company culture embodied in our "DLG behaviours", specifically 'bring all of yourself to work' is an important value to me. Everyone is really positive and friendly here, and there are so many opportunities for development - through apprenticeship programmes, secondments etc. It is a well known brand to work for and has many perks and benefits!

Just be yourself as if you are a good fit we are always open to developing the right people.
