Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role in my workplace varies day to day.Some days I will be mainly putting out stock and covering the tills when needed and then other days as duty manager , I will be in charge of the running of the store and controlling what happens that day in store.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy the programme that I am partaking in.Where a lot of the skills learnt I already have a basic understanding on, I have been able to build on then and gain a greater understanding and been able to go more in depth with then and learn them deeper. But there are plenty of new things I have learnt and continue to learn throughout the programme.

I have learnt many new skills when working for Iceland. I joined just after leaving college and I’ve learnt a lot about how things work in the real world and I now have a greater understanding of the world of retail and how the day to day running work in an Iceland store. I’ve learnt how to deal with certain types of customers , how to always give a customer a good experience with our company an there are many more that I have learnt and many existing skills I have built upon.

I would say that the programme is well organised and well structured. Each module is set out well and gives you a clear understanding of what
is expected of you and what you need to learn.It gives a good overview of everything you need to understand and doesn’t bore you and go off on a tangent and keeps you interested.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive enough support from my employer and they are always there if I have any queries or worries about anything. And I feel it is a safe place for me to ask and I feel comfortable with any queries and I don’t feel pressured in any sort of way.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive plenty of support from my trainer, they are always there to answer any questions I may have. And if I ever have any I’ve struggled with during one of the modules , they will help me and go through what I don’t understand and make sure by the time we are done that I understand what I didn’t before hand.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel as though my qualification helps me perform better in my role as it gives me a more in-depth view of what retail is and then in and outs of day to day proceedings. It gives me an edge over other people as I now have a better knowledge that I can put into place in day to day work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are extra things at my work such as talking Iceland which Is a page where you can pledge new ideas that you may think of, post reviews surrounding new products you may have tried. So there is plenty of extra things that you can do outside of your working hours.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Iceland Frozen Foods?
The advice I would give to other people joining/applying to Iceland is to always be polite and look appropriate for the job. A big thing at Iceland is customer service, so always make sure that all the customers have a pleasant experience shopping with us and make sure you keep them wanting to come back time and time again.
