Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I plan events and attend the events on the day. Work on awards submissions and *internal communications. Help design and create SharePoint sites. Create powerpoints for the new branding and project sheets. Marketing research on our clients and create brochures with all of the relevant information that will help us connect to them better
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I am really enjoying my programme with my company, everyone has been so welcoming and always teaching me new things. The assignment side of the apprenticeship is a bit intense with all the work I need to get done for college whilst being busy in work can be a bit manic.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes, I use a lot of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint- developing my skills already learnt from school.
I have also been introduced to Adobe InDesign which is a completely new skill- used for graphic designs and things like that.

Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

At the beginning it wasnt well structured from the college side- I started in September and didn't start my college course until November and it was all a bit up in the air about what I was actually doing. Also it isn't very well organised in the assignment side as I never know whats coming nect
How much support do you receive from your employer?

A lot of support comes from the employer- especially with giving me time to complete my assignments and taking a study day if needed. There is also an apprenticeship team that is there to help if needed. Also, my manager has been amazing with helping if I am stuck with work
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My training provider isnt so good as they take ages to reply to any emails and sometimes I will have to triple email and CC my manager in just to get a reply.
I only speak to my tutor once a month and it is all done online instead of in person

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel as though my qualification and role are 2 separate things as they don't go hand in hand and the training provider doesn't align my assignments to what I am doing in work very well.
And the workshops are all over the place when it comes to attending- as sometimes I could be the only one to show up and then the workshop is cancelled

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes I am part of the Brand Ambassador network, social committee who plan all the offices social events like quizzes, lunch etc.
There are also sports teams to join, or baking groups- the company is very social and wants employees to enjoy the place they work. We also get team days or networking days

Why?
They treat you so well compared to any company I have worked for before. They make you feel wanted and will give you any support needed.
They are also flexible with working days and hours- and do not discriminate against anyone. Everyone is treated fair and it is such a fun place to work

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Arup?
- Look at the values of Arup and see if they are values you have
- Research what Arup is and what we do- gain as much info on the sector you are applying for.
- Be confident and really open up during the interview
- Ask questions you want to know- don't be scared to ask
