Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Shift Manager at a JDW pub. I plan the shifts day to day and manage the staff. Arranging breaks, ordering and receiving stock, counting and managing cash, arranging and carrying out interviews and inductions etc etc.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I enjoy learning new things to support my role at work. I’m not as keen on the format in which the programme is delivered as I find the online learning difficult to concentrate on.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt more about business planning and recruitment.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme is split into modules and end point assessment which makes it easy to follow and each module is also split into sections meaning it’s easy to see where you’re up to.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
2/5
At the start of my apprenticeship my line manager could have been more supportive but now I get a shift a week to work on my apprenticeship which is making things easier for me.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
My trainer is really helpful and always answers any questions that I ask.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
It helps me understand how to manage staff better and also to learn more about the industry.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are no sports teams but JDW do have two yearly sports tournaments. A football and darts tournament. Otherwise there are three network groups; for women, people of colour and lgbtqia people.
