Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
In my role at Manchester City Council I have lots of different tasks. One of my main roles is doing a shift on reception, this tasks involves answering phone calls from the social workers clients and give them the best help we can. Listed are my other roles: no further action letters, Initial/review health assessments, Child Looked after Letters and booking taxi for clients.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I am enjoying everything about my role. However, as I have to do GCSE Maths again I am not happy with the tutor in the maths lessons as they are taking me back to basics. On the other hand, I am getting through the tasks for my apprenticeship as I used to do essay's in college. So, the work is becoming easier.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Since starting my role everything I have learnt inside my job but also inside my apprenticeship. For example, In my work role I have learnt the procedures and regulations on GDPR especially when I am on reception. Another example is I have learnt a lot about personal qualities and attributes I can offer by being in this apprenticeship, especially when I am doing tasks set by my tutor.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
The tutor assigned to me is very knowledgeable. However, they have a tendency to repeat and prolong certain information, which can make the meetings and workshops boring in a way. The programme I am studying is good structured I have work every month and I am getting through that quickly and the other people studying have received a timetable for those times.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
In my role I receive a lot of help from my employer. Everything I am involved in my manager is involved too, they are included in all the discussion regarding my apprenticeship and has helped me revise maths, they have also given me lots of time and a day release to continue working of my apprenticeship tasks.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
1/5
in my apprenticeship I am given a monthly set of tasks with an email guide if I get stuck. However, I have met once with my maths tutor and was disappointed as I asked for fortnightly session and I am getting monthly sessions and the work and explanation to a poor standard which I am quite unhappy about.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
Due to taking Healthcare in college I already know a lot about different Legislations policies in and around different workplaces. So, some things that are said or given to me in tasks and workshops is repetitive and boring. However, it is nice to be learning about something different in a different environment.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
In my role there are extra no activities. At Manchester city council and in my role there are options to stay after working hours to build up flex-time. But there are no extra activities that I know off, if there aren't it is an idea to give to my manager to promote healthy living.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend The Growth Company Limited to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The growth company is a great place to be as an apprenticeship. However, the lack of communication and proper staff members for GCSE courses let it down, as a person who struggles with maths I am disappointed in the session after hearing some very good and promising things about the person and the work she is doing.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to The Growth Company Limited?
Anyone applying to the company must take into account how to manage their workload correctly and how to ask for help otherwise they are not going to get any, I would also advise anyone applying to take seperate classes for any GCSE courses that they have not passed as they will fall behind with the extra workload.
