Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My daily tasks consist of conducting and reviewing actuarial calculations, such as transfer values and retirement quotes, arranging for fees and invoices and studying for my exams.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy my programme a lot as I have a variety of work to be doing, I have a good, friendly, knowledgeable team around me. Aon provides an inclusive environment where I can thrive.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have obtained many industry specific skills, such as use of certain technology, however I would also say my communication skills have improved through talking to colleagues and working with others.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
My programme is structured very well as there is always training and support for actuarial work and exam study. We have tutorials for exams monthly and training for actuarial work very frequently. Work is always delegated to me and I can always ask for more, should I require it.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My manager meets with me frequently, and I have a mentor on the same apprenticeship as me, which proves very useful should I need any apprenticeship-specific assistance. Everyone is very supportive and happy to help.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I have a tutor and a coach who are always willing to help with exams and wellbeing. We have tutorials monthly where we are taught the curriculum.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
My qualification is all maths, which is a huge part of my role, as I carry out calculations using maths and formulae. My next exams are more specific to actuarial study, so these will link quite a bit.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
At work, there are socials arranged, where everyone goes out after work for a bit of fun. There is also a five a side football team which you can join.
