Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
At the minute I am on my first year of my apprentice so I haven't been in the office much yet. From October to January we joined weekly online meetings informing us of the different business areas in PwC to make it easier for us to submit a form saying which area we would be interested in working in during our summer placement.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
Honestly I haven't been on work placement yet so it's hard to say, but so far I am enjoying it as it's a good way to meet new people on your course and PwC organise different night outs which are fun for getting to know people in your cohort and in the years above too.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I think the whole application process helped develop my interview skills and boost my confidence from doing things like a group interview. At the minute we are currently attending weekly Professional Skills online meetings, which basically informs us how we should act professionally and politely in the workplace to prepare us for our summer placement.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
I think the programme is fairly well structured, although I wish we had a full placement year in year 3 instead of splitting our placement over year 2 and year 3. Moreover, some of our weekly meetings clashed with our lectures so we had to catch up on them at another time which was a bit of a nuisance.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I think i receive a lot of support from PwC, definitely financially as you receive a very decent monthly salary and a work laptop for meetings and work placement. I think the staff are all very polite and caring, and I would have no bother at all reaching out to them if I had a problem.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Obviously we receive quite a high salary which definitely helps with things like the bills, and the transport and living costs associated with being a student, but they also pay for our tuition fees which means we won't have any debt having over our heads for the next few years
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I think doing a degree in Software Engineering definitely helps me in my role as a technology degree apprenticeship as the two are closely linked. I think it helps provide me with the in depth knowledge that I can then apply to the real life during my work placement.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
I receive many emails about many different social events and sports activities and different professional networking events and town halls however I have not attended any of them so I can't comment on how good they are, but there's definitely plenty to choose from at PwC and I know a lot of people enjoy them.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would definitely recommend PwC to a friend as I believe it is a really good way to improve your skills and experience while also completing a degree that is fully paid for and won't leave you with any debt, whilst also receiving a decent salary while is beneficial for any student.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
I would advise them to do lots of research on PwC before applying to get to know the company and their culture better to help them in the interview. I'd also advise them to do lots of practise questions before the individual interview and the group interview as well as doing some mock tests for the games based assessment.
