Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
my role includes helping out the site team on planning/ designing our new project for the client. My project is currently at the beginning which means we haven't even started on site yet so calculation, drawings and planning details are very important. last year on my previous job i was based on site where i would carry out quality checks on works which sub contractors had completed and would do environmental inspections each week to ensure our site is operating sustainably
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I do really enjoy my apprenticeship especially when all the apprentices are brought together for training days and socials as we are all separated on different projects so its fascinating to hear what my peers are up to. Its also nice to be around people my own age as in the office everyone is a lot older so its comforting when we come together and share our stories.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
yes i have learnt new technical skills being at the work place and at university. I have also developed professionally significantly and have improved my confidence hugely by putting myself in situations which i find nerve racking but once you keep doing it you no longer feel anything towards the situation as it becomes normal and that's how you know you have grown

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
the structure of the programme is well managed we always have someone from the talent team on our back making sure we are progressing correctly and tackling any issues we are facing so we dont need to waste time doing it ourselves. we also have all our training set up for us so we just have to attend everything else is organised by Mace
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
a lot of support there is someone from university, your project team, the chartnership assessor, the buddy which you are allocated and the emerging talent team to contact if you need support
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
a normal amount of support nothing significant. we have catch up calls twice a year with the head of the training programme to discuss the past tearm. However going to uni is a activity which is independent and only a certain amount of support can be provided the rest needs to come from you to ensure deadlines are met and that you are understanding the lectures.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
i have defintly learn more on the job compared to going to uni but thats just how i prefer to learn. i have learnt more detailed and specific knowledge from uni which i have seen come to life whilst at work which is a great experience as you go from reading somthing in a book/lecture to a few weeks later physically carrying out the activity
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
yes multiple networking opportunity and mace foundation groups you can join to speak about any issues you have in your personal life this can also create socials between you and others within the company that potentially may not have met before so gives these opportunity and can also help you relies what it is you want to do next in you career at Mace as you speak with different job roles in the business about there day-to-day role.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Mace to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Because it is a fair place of work which also is exciting and keeps us apprentices going/ working hard as we know we can get on the big sallerys at a young age and grab the high job roles if we work hard, as in Mace age is just a number and you will never be told no if you can do something
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Mace?
be yourself in the group interveiw and dont worry if your not as technically smart as other people they dont care about that as they can teach you that they want to see someone who works well in a group and has good social skills to build relationships and help the company to grow
