Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

on a day to day basis complete the task set by my team. these include editing both 2D and 3D drawings. creating isometric and 2D views. as well as attending discussions about the project and attempting to solve the problems which arise. i support the project however im needed to.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

being in my second year of the apprenticeship and first year of project work everyday is something new. i have thoroughly enjoyed the past few month and experienced things i have found interesting useful. there have been times where i felt as if the work i was producing wasnt productive to the company however i and now able to recognise the reasons for these tasks and what they teach me
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes, previously i had very little knowledge of using CAD software's. now i feel reasonably competent on both inventor and AutoCAD and continue to learn more as the apprenticeship progresses. i believe i am beggining to understand many of the processes required in nuclear engineering and more importantly the reasons behind these processes.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

so far so good! my first year was full time in college which gave me a great core knowledge for general engineering. the project work i have been doing has introduced me to a more specified engineering. the learning rate is quick but it is made clear that there is no real pressure to produce for the company. i am told to focus on building my knowledge and getting the best experience i can.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

whenever i require support i know where to go and i feel comfortable doing so. there has never been a time where i felt as if i wasn't receiving the support i needed. for example, during my first year in college, covid struck and we entered lockdown. there were alot of questions i needed answering as well as equipment. everything was sorted and answered swiftly.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

again this is very similar to the last question. i cant fault my training provider (training 2000). they have been excellent in providing the support i need and running a well structured course. all the tutors are easy to talk to and make you feel comfortable. i have no issues asking for support if required.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

the skills i have learnt at college have created the core knowledge which i utilise everyday both inside and outside of work. the knowledge gained inputs into everything and has helped me to understand things from different perspectives. for example as a designer who has used items such as a lathe and milling machine i know there are some constraints to what can be done in the manufacturing process. this helps me to create better designs.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

yes! i am heavily involved in STEM within cavendish nuclear. i have also attended a number of lunch and learn sessions on multiple topics. i recently attended a networking event where members of different nuclear companies attended and socialised. as a result of the social activities and lunch and learn sessions etc, have helped me make useful connections

Why?
Cavendish nuclear have supported me at every stage of my apprenticeship. i am receiving a competitive wage with a clear progression plan. the people whithin the company are great!. both friends fun and supportive. i feel engaged and part of Cavendish Nuclear. the experience so far has been extremely educating and beneficial to my future career.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Cavendish Nuclear?
i would firstly say to gain as much experience as possible to stand out from others. it can also help to identify specific areas you are interested in. research the company and its values, know what they want in an employee and try to show that through your application and interview.
