Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My job role is the running of the store in the absence of the store manager. I have the responsibility over all staff working on a shift with me. I also have to work deliveries of stock, replenish the shelves and keep on top of the quality of our products.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy seeing a side to my job and role that I wouldn't necessarily learn from the company. I have worked within my role for 6 years and feel that I have gained more in the last few months than what I have learnt whist working in my role. I also really enjoy the time with my trainer.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt a lot of new parts of my job role and also expanded to skills required to get a promotion. Whilst undertaking the apprenticeship, it has pushed me to work towards a senior supervisor position. This means I have taken on new responsibilities and have started my training as part of the off the job training for my course.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
There is a lot of structure and organisation to the course. However I like that I don't have to stick to the order set out in the course. I have been concentrating on stock loss as a side project within the store, so I have been able to work the sections that relate to this.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer is very supportive, I have paid time to be able to complete parts of the work that I am set by my trainer. I am also able to have face to face meetings with my trainer during my working shifts which means it doesn't matter that I only work part time and we can work to suit me.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I have a huge amount of resources available for me on the learning platform. My trainer is also available for me whenever I might need to query anything. The is also a community set up by the learning platform so that I can talk to others doing the same course as me.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
As previously stated, since learning through the platform, I have been able to expand my role more than I ever have. I feel more confident with certain areas of my job role. I also have a wider understanding of the tools available for me to complete my role with and how they can benefit me.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Within my work place I have an extra role and that is to be the in between for management and front line staff. This means I get to organise social activities for the team and have an input in what the company are doing for team celebrations too. I get to trave to area meetings, which means I can interact with other stores.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Iceland Frozen Foods to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Iceland are a family run business and they treat us as part of the family. They are always trying to find ways to work with their front line staff to create a happy working environment. They recognise achievement and have a huge part to play in charity work within the UK.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Iceland Frozen Foods?
When applying to work for Iceland you should always be yourself. They are a company that employ bubbly characters who can all work together as a team. The job can be tough at times, as with any job. But it really is the people you work with and the customers you get to know who make it worth while.
