Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Respond to emails, complete subcontract payments and assess what they have applied for, look at drawings on the server, go out with the engineers to find out what has been going on, on site and have a meeting with all members and discuss the next steps and whats gone well.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Living away from home is a struggle, but it is a good experience, I enjoy the work given to me when it comes as at the moment my project is on pause. Very friendly team to work with, they are happy to help with anything you need.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Independent - my job requires me to live away from home. Excel skills - a spreadsheet is a quantity surveyors best friend. Importance of health and safety. Communication - older professionals, different as you are used to talking to people your age. English - college assignments means writing and more english based work.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

Very well structured, college for 9 weeks and then on site for the rest, getting the qualification and also the first hand experience is the best way.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

There is lots of support, from colleagues, college staff and the HR team, everyone is happy to help you if you are in need.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Lots of support, they check up on you when you need the help and there is always someone to ask whether its your teacher or a teacher you haven't met before.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The qualification helps with your awareness of the construction industry and the different principles that make up a project. The qualification gives you the foundation knowledge which you can build up with experience on site.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, there are multiple social and sporting events throughout the organisation. On my first week on site I went out with the site team which was a really good networking opportunity and there is sporting events held at different points within the year.

Would you recommend BAM to a friend?

Why?
It's a good company to work for, they take care of their employees which you wouldn't generally expect for a big company to but they do. You soon get to know people across all regions of the business and all are friendly in a professional manor.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAM?
Be open-minded when joining BAM, there are many opportunities they offer so don't hold yourself back. When applying, it is easier said than done but try not to be nervous and just enjoy the process and be happy you have made the short list amongst lots of other individuals.
