Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
As a team leader, I am expected to plan what work myself and everyone on my shift needs to get done. This can range from putting stock out, creating new sales opportunities for certain products, cashing up the tills and managing the delivery of online home delivery orders. More often than not I’m the most senior member in the building, so anytime a customer or colleague needs help or instruction with something I am trained to provide it.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy being able to learn new aspects of my job that I haven’t been able to experience through my first hand work. I also like that I can see how I may be able to further my career and how I can apply myself to reach this goal

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt how to be approachable and friendly with customers to be able to provide them with a positive experience with my organisation. I have learnt how to manage a team of people to get our work done. I have also started to learn more of the business side of my job, so how I can make sure that my organisation is able to continue to provide the products and services expected by our customers

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
My programme is sectioned off into various modules that make it easy to learn and understand each aspect of my apprenticeship. By breaking it down this way, I can focus on one related topic at a time and make sure that I am as confident with it as possible. It also makes it so I can see where I may be struggling and will need further practice or help on.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
A lot of my knowledge about this apprenticeship has come from first hand work with my employer and having already dealt with and become confident with certain aspects of my job. I know that if I have questions or do not understand something, any help I may need will be provided to me.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I have meetings on each module of my apprenticeship and I go through all of it with my trainer to make sure I understand and am able to explain everything in it. If I am unsure about something, I know that I will be able to go into that specific topic further and solidify my knowledge of it
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
My qualification is helping me understand the reasoning behind why we do what we do at work rather than just seeing it as something that needs to be done. I am learning how certain things are necessary to make sure that we provide the best experience for our customers and attract any new potential customers
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
We have a social fund that we are able to spend on any activities or events to enjoy as a team. We can also use this fund to purchase gifts, whether for Christmas and birthdays or to reward good work. That are sometimes certain networking events where various people in the company get to meet each other and learn about the future of the company

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Iceland Frozen Foods to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I am confident in the products and services that we as an organisation supply. I know that our team does everything they can to provide the best experience for our customers so I know that I can confidently recommend Iceland. As I also have a lot of experience with Iceland, it is the only retail company I know from the inside out, and know what to expect from Iceland
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Iceland Frozen Foods?
To make sure you apply yourself to as many aspects of the job as possible, to keep yourself occupied with a variety of different work so as to not feel bored in your job. Also to be available for extra support when needed, as someone who is able to be relied on will be able to progress much further
