Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Learning about electrical installations and electrical components and tools required to successfully install an installation.
Health and safety
How to use Tools safely and what tools to use to suit the task.
Theory studies on electrical installation, health and safety, science and principles of machinery that requires wiring to make it work or for repair.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy my electrical installation work in the workshop.
My assessor Yann is a great asset to the college and to the course.
He's provided me with confidence completing new electrical installations and given me guidance on areas that I didn't fully understand.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I've learnt a few new lighting circuits since starting in September.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
1/5
It's been hit and miss due to being short staffed (assessor) and only 1 assessor in the workshop.
Due to this being the case the class has been split in 2 which has caused us to have to work from home 2 days a week which has slowed me and my group down considerably. It has also caused a negative affect on the groups where students don't want to communicate with the other students in the other group which has now caused awkwardness between the groups which is a real shame.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
At the beginning of the course I felt there wasn't much support given as students felt like they were constantly being targeted for anything negatively. But, as time has gone on the bond between myself and both of my superiors has got stronger and stronger. Of recent they've continued to help and support with any questions, or worries I've gone to them for.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Yann as I've mentioned in another question, my assessor has been nothing more that amazing. He's very approachable and will help myself and all other students with anything they require.
He's provided good tips on a better way to use Tools, he's also helped with a better understanding on installations that I've not yet undertaken
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Knowing my worth and providing me with confidence that I can do the jobs required for the new career route that I wish to pursue.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
Nothing
