My role as an apprentice is to get an understanding of the theory and practical skills in electrical marine engineering. We carry out tasks that build up our knowledge and confidence.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

A lot of new skills have been developed such as building an understanding in electrical engineering such as circuits and components. As well as this existing skills such as team building and communicating has been improved.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The development of the apprenticeship is well structured, however this year has been a struggle. Lecturers have been leaving the college, slowing down progression of apprentices. There's a lot of uncertainty regarding the end of the year.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I always feel supported at work, I know that there's always someone available if I need to talk to someone.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I always feel supported at work, I know that there's always someone available if I need to talk to someone. My lecturer always offers great advice regarding any help that I may need.

What were learning in college is very helpful towards our role. Putting theory into practice and developing my skills.
