Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I am currently a Networks Degree Apprentice working in BT's Media & Broadcast division. Everyday, I spend my time working on routing, security and troubleshooting of network components on the live broadcast network.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I love my programme, the opportunities it offers but also the general ethos of the company where I never feel afriad to ask a question or get involved in a new project (no matter how challenging it may be)

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt my role from scratch with no previous experience. I have learnt about IP Addressing, subnetting, firewalls, Cisco & Nokia routers & switches as well as beginning my official CCNA qualification. I have also massively developed as a leader, public speaker and in networking.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme is well organised - with much support around you to learn. Many different schemes are run differently depending on where you join the business and this does mean that experiences can differ but overall, the support of the Apprenticeship teams is world class.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
The support in learning but also the support provided to join the BT & Apprentice community is great! We recieve support in our job roles but also support to get involved in external opportunitities including social media & focus groups with government.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
There is good support from our training provider where tutors can be reached via email outside of your time attending university sessions.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I do feel that my qualification supports me in my role. It is a broad qualification but has great accreditations and has allowed me to take knowledge back into my work environment to put into practice.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes - my local community of Apprentices in my building often organise volunteering opportunities, external visits to see other parts of the business as well as many social events to stay connected within the Apprentice community/
