Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role involves a variety of tasks such as meetings, organizing my schedule for the day of the week, catching up with my mentor and manager as well as anybody with who I am collaborating within any project running at the time as well as keeping up to date with all emails.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my program to a great extent. I am working as part of a very supportive team that is ready to always help when any issues arise, they are aware of my position as an apprentice and that I may not be so skilled and take time out to slowly walk me through procedures.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have definitely developed my communication skills in the workplace, having a generally more professional etiquette overall. My organizational skills have also drastically improved as it is a key skill required when collaborating with fellow team members. Problem-solving is also another skill that I have developed as it required when challenges in the workplace arise.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

My program has a well-balanced structure between my university studies and my work time, there are sometimes issues when team members that happen to be your mentors or managers that leave which can slow down your progress and leave small gaps in the timeline however that goes for any workplace, people come and go.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I am fully supported by my employer no matter what issue I am facing, my mentor which has now left has been a massive support always guiding me and teaching me new skills and also supporting my university studies that collided in with work. If I ever come across an Issue I am always encouraged to speak up.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I would say at the moment I do not have a mentor as I have rotated teams so there is still a mentor to be assigned to me that I can update with my progress in my qualification, but the training provided by my training provider is somewhat decent, I do still feel somewhat independent in my learning journey.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

There have been few modues where I am putting into practice at work. There are also different systems of usage at work that are not correlated with the training provided at university. However I hope soon to be making use of the training I am learning at university into work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes! even throughout the pandemic and working online it has still been a great opportunity for the apprentices to meet virtually for social events, activities, and classes. I do enjoy going out doing fun activities outside of work with friends or family such as travelling, leisure clubs ad adventurous activities.

Why?
I am always supported I never feel left out or alone and I can always be completely open and honest with everything that is going on, I can always voice everything. I am always supported if I struggle in my degree and that is something I am very grateful to have.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to AstraZeneca?
In the application process, always be your genuine self, try to give examples of where your required skills have been used, think of this as a contract between you and the company, come with the mind of how can you benefit from this program and how can the company benefit from you.
