Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
general working alongside the SME team, conduction work from client prospecting using data tools, financial models, excel work, and using this data to write credit papers to request new bank products for clients, or to request annual credit renewals for clients. further aspect is slowly building good relationships with clients and winning new clients from other banks
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
i was given a high level of responsibility/ autonomy in my work. received daily tasks that contributed towards functions of the team. spoke directly with bank clients and the work i did had a real impact, and was not just made up for an intern. from day one it was real rewarding work. furthermore i had fully responsibility of organising bank client events, given a blank template to create an event that adds value to the bank and wins us new clients

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
i received a tremendous amount of support during my time on the placement, daily meetings with my line manager giving me updates and advice whenever i needed it, sometimes even twice daily if was required. the same support was provided across the organisation and throughout my team level. i could reach out to product partners, and they would make to to help teach and support me. i was even provided with multiple opportunities to meet with board level staff and present to them

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
the general atmosphere was extremely friendly and supportive. the Lloyds values of working together are truly upheld and championed by team members throughout the bank, prior to my placement managers made the time to support me and make it known what was expected of me, and what they could do for me. due to covid19 social events were provided online, and this was well managed with all things considered. speaking to graduates i get the impression that the office culture is quite good too

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
i found my internship extremely rewarding, so much so that it has shown me how truly unappealing university is as a method of teaching, and that practical real work whilst learning is the most effective method for myself. learning in real world applications and working in highly dynamic teams is much more appealing to myself than being spoken at by a lecturer, i defiantly plan to go back as a graduate at Lloyds.
at the beginning i didn't know what to expect as the commercial banking role is so broad , but i can confidently say it has exceeded my expectations and i have develop and grown so much as a result of this internship

Yes
What advice would you give to others applying to Lloyds Banking Group
just be yourself, of course it benefits to be a switched on and educated person, but you do not need to be focused only into banking or finance. the attitude that Lloyds employs is that they can teach you all the new skills you require, so what they are looking for is confident, well-rounded individuals that have the drive to succeed and work hard, and also work well in a team. have good people skills and a friendly attitude and you will do well.
