Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I work in Tax, Trusts and Estates in the Reading office. My day to day changes all the time. Sometimes I have to make alot of phone calls to banks and clients or draft them letters. Or having meeting with clients to help them draft a Will or LPA. It is very interesting and you can be nosy on peopes private livess.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
When I first joined a found myelf with no lot of work to do so it found it a bit boring at times but now I have learnt more about the job I find the time goes really quikcly as I enjoy the work I do. My collegues are all really lovely and suppportive awell.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
One of the skills I have learn is drafting Wills, Codicils and LPA's. You have to pay attention to detail when doing this to make sure you have got the information e.g. names correct. I have alot improved my communication skills on the phone and now know how to answer questions correctly.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
Our program is structured by my training company. At first it was a bit confusing as it is all online and very different to alevels butb after a while I got used to it. I have one day off a week as a study day to complete my modules and book work.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Everyone in my meet is so lovely but sometimes can be very busy so I dont always get feedback on mu work etc. I find the other paralegals in my team are very supportive and will always help if I have a question. My manager and I will always dicuss my modules and have weekly catch up calls.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
My coach gives me very good feedback on my work and ways to improve. We have catch up calls every 6 weeks to discuss my work and my questions I have. The support is very different from a levels, you have to think for yourself a bit more which I like.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
My training is based on my department so taxt trust and estates. I find this useful as I am actually busing what I am learning. the baack ground to law isnt that useful but it is still interesting and its just some thing you have to learn and be tested on.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
We have just had our work christmas party which I helped organised. There is different comittee within Irwin Mitchell which you can join for example IMable which is there is support people with different needs. We dont have any sports teams but now we are out of covid hopefully more socials
