Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Provided the team with a news email update each morning, highlighting the relevant key stories. The role also involved financial statement analysis for the generation of credit ratings, the updating of facilities extended to clients and peer analysis and research on the sector.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
There was an appropriate balance between responsibility and guidance/support on tasks. I was staffed on key tasks within client projects to complete, with necessary feedback given and acted upon throughout.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Significant development of skillset around Excel and Powerpoint, critical credit and performance analysis of firms in the industry and ability to network with a diverse range of people. In addition, I have experienced significant improvement in my ability to synthesise and break down financial statements.

I was given a significant amount of support and guidance, with clear direction provided prior to tasks and acceptance of questions throughout. The team environment was very supportive with a focus on the internship as a learning experience for myself.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
I could not speak more highly of Citi's culture and atmosphere. Even in the reduced office experience, everyone was very willing to help, share their experiences and discuss any questions I had. The employees display passion for their work and speak well of their experience.

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I enjoyed my internship to a large extent! From the people, to the work and the skills gained, I would very much recommend it. Not only has contributed to my career progression but also provided me with a refreshed mindset. As an intern, I was able to work on very relevant projects.

I would recommend displaying your passion for the bank itself, regardless of your technical banking experience. They really do value personality as well as a great interest in the sector.
