Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

It is very repetitive. I process invoice all day and rarely get given more responsibility other then invoices.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

During my interview i thought i would be given loads of different tasks to but that was not the case. As i just do invoices most of my time which gets very boring and makes you less motivated. The study side is completely useless. Nothing we get taught links in the real word to be honest. I get its an apprenticeship but the way they conduct themselves as they think we are still in school.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I learnt how to manage my time better and organise my workload. However, i was not able to test my other skills i.e problem solving, analytical data etc
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

At the beginning the structure was fine and everyone was considerate as what is expected. But as the months went by, my manger/team leader where making unrealistic targets when i had study days(20% goes to the apprenticeship). Even though i met them but was really burnt out. I mentioned this to my apprenticeship advisor at softcat but nothing changed.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

At the beginning everything was fine but later on they changed. So much was expected of me during my study days and it was not considered by my manager/team leader. I explained to them that i have a study they but they seemed annoyed by it. They definitely took out on me the next day by giving me a lot of workload. Even during lockdown I expected a bit of consideration due to mental health as everyone was struggling but no. They seem to think you are robots.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My training provider let me down big time. I was struggling with a lot of things but i was not taken seriously. They would report but to my employer that things were not complete with out context, which was very upsetting. To be honest the training provider did not really care and was there to do there job and tick a box.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

As i was over qualified but lacked experience i gave it a chance. I mist say i was wrong in doing so. The course does not help you in any way.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

The company does a lot of social events which is really good. However, my team made it very awkward if someone was to leave there desk to go and attend for 10-20m. So I practically missed out.

Would you recommend Softcat to a friend?
No
Why?
You are just a number to them and they offer you such little salary. Not worth the hassle and stress. P.s during the first week of induction they make you write a review. Which does not make sense when it should be done at the apprenticeship. A manipulative company I must say
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Softcat?
Look elsewhere. You need to lookout for your career and this place is not the one. The company sees you as a number and nothing else. No career prospects, mental health awareness. Maybe it was just my team but my experience was terrible.
