Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Audit work - roll-over of data, substantive testing, analytics, observation of stockcounts, conversing with client (including listed clients), working on client site, working as a team, review of supporting documents like invoices, bank statement reconciliations, presenting issues and ideas to the team or client clearly and confidently
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
To a great extent, it was so much more than I expected and it exceeded my expectations.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Coming into this placement I was afraid to speak up, present my ideas confidently or even ask for help. As strong communication skills are inherently part of the job, this has pushed me to be able to do all those things I struggled with.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Very well - there is a clear career pathway from the start and the steps to take are manageable and achievable.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
PwC by nature work in teams and collaborate on nearly all work resulting in a great support network.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Despite the pandemic making it hard to learn (as I had to essentially teach myself everything from online lectures and textbooks) the support from tutors is always there, you just need to reach out for it.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
My modules definitely give me good background knowledge which supports me in my professional judgements and helps me understand when learning on the job.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are plenty - social activities are an integral part of helping us unwind and bring the team back together when busy times make us tense.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I've just truly had a blast on placement. I have learned a lot from all my colleagues (no matter the grade) and have felt beyond welcome here. PwC really invests into their best asset which is their people.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
Push yourself to be confident even when unsure. It's better to present an issue and a possible solution which you're not sure about, than to not say anything at all. - No such thing as a silly question in PwC
