Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
First we get an engineering drawing of what we were going to do. Using the information on the sheet we would determine what material we need and how much we needed. We would cut the material to the shape of the drawings using various tools to drills holes or create curved edges. Teachers would be there to guide is of necessary.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I enjoy it to some extent it was fun at times but also annoying like when our tutor was not in and we were not informed before so we came into class only for no tutor to be there. Other times it was fun creating pieces of of material to put it together and make something new.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
I have developed communication skills as most of the staff were friendly and so were the students. I've learned to be independent and to work things out on my own. I am now on my way to having a career in engineering from what I learnt here. I also learned math skills as we used it sometimes.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
It's wasn't very organised as they were really sure if tutors were in or not so we would have to come in and sometimes have no tutor. Since we had no tutor we had to sit in the classroom all day doing basically nothing since they had no plan for us.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
2/5
I was never found an employer. However my mechanical tutor gave me so much support and would help whenever we asked for it. However my electrical tutor was not helpful at all. He expected us to know something he hadn't taught us and wouldn't help when we asked for it so the entire class was confused.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
However my mechanical tutor gave me so much support and would help whenever we asked for it. However my electrical tutor was not helpful at all. He expected us to know something he hadn't taught us and wouldn't help when we asked for it so the entire class was confused. We had a sub for maintenance and he had no idea what he was doing so we didn't receive support also.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
I feel that my qualification helped me perform better as now I know how to analyse and read engineering drawings and how to turn a plate of aluminium or any other material and make something out of them. This skill will help me achieve my goal of furthering my education in engineering.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
I was never found a job so I can't answer this properly. However my training provider didn't have any clubs of extra curricular. There was no sports team, social activities, sports means or voluntary activities. When we were on our break were allowed to go out an eat or just stay in the dining hall or sometimes in class.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend The Growth Company Limited to a friend?
No
Why?
It's not worth it. All the time wasting and not having a tutor was annoying. I wasted a bunch of time there as they were not organised and it wasn't that good. Only one teacher I had was actually helping me and he was nice but besides him everything else was awful. I wish I had gone to college instead.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to The Growth Company Limited?
Don't be afriad to ask for help if you need it as a tutor might help you. If your tutor is busy or not helping then don't be afriad to ask classmates for help. You could also report the tutor as that is your education and you deserve the best.
