Please give an overview of what your work experience involved:

My work experience involved a variety of presentations by Pinsent Masons employees, for example a Street Law presentation and a Commercial Awareness presentation. I also had the chance to speak to trainee solicitors, solicitors and partners from the firm about their experiences into law and ask them questions about what their day to day job looks like.
To what extent did you enjoy your work experience?

I LOVED the work experience. Getting the opportunity to speak to speak to current solicitors was really interesting, helpful and insightful. They were able to answer many of my questions regarding the law in general, routes to becoming a lawyer and studying law at university. I also loved learning about the different niches in the law.
How well organised was your work experience?

The virtual work experience programme that I attended was extremely well organised through a virtual platform called Forage. I had a schedule/calendar that I could look at and also a legal work expeience hub button where I could access all my tasks, sessions and presentations so I could stay organised and make sure I wasn't missing anything.
How much did your work experience help you in deciding on your future career path?

This work experience programme has definitely helped me to decide which career path I would like to take. Before the programme, I was still deciding and worrying about what I wanted to study at university, but after this it is clear to me what I am passionate about and want to do in the future. I am so grateful!
Were you paid or reimbursed for this experience?

I was not paid or reimbursed for the Pinsent Masons work experience programme. This particular work experience programme was just about helping young people decide their future careers and no payment was involved as a result of participating. It was strictly voluntary, and no money was received. Instead I got a certificate and a bunch of wonderful new friends!
Skills Development
What training and skills development did you learn from your work experience?

I learnt how to draft clauses for legal documents, like legislations etc. I also learnt some really valuable skills regarding how to compose a CV, and some tips for ensuring it looks the part. I also received some training about applying to university and how to compose a personal statement, which was also really helpful.
Company Culture
How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?

I learnt so much about the company culture at Pinsent Masons. It is very clear that they are a law firm focused on the people and the comfort and well-being of their employees, which is great to see. I also learnt about all their environmental initiatives that they have implemented through the responsible business presentation, which is amazing!
Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?
5/5
Absolutely! During some of the exercises, for example the Jaffa Cake exercise and the group legal case exercise, we all really got to know each other. We also had a virtual networking lunch during the last day, where many of us got to know each other on a deeper level and where we all decided to stay in touch in the future!

Pinsent Masons is an absolutely incredible company with some really great values. They are all about the people and the well-being of their employees. So for that reason, I would definitely recommend them to a friend. I know they would be well looked after! Pinsent Masons is great! Would always recommend!
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Pinsent Masons LLP?
One piece of advice I would give to others when they are applying to Pinsent Masons is be true and honest with yourself. Don't worry about others being competitive, it is more important that you know who you are and that you convey that. The Early Talent team at Pinsent Masons want to know who you truly are, not who you think they expect or want you to be!
