Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

currently i am at college and it changes as i progress. i perform the tasks set by my training provider whilst documenting them to provide evidence of completion. these tasks can be computer based or physical. they teach me the basic knowledge required to complete the task.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

very much so. have had nothing negative to say up until the past few weeks. i completed a section ahead of schedule by 3 weeks and they have been unable to put me on a new section. therefore i have completed stretch and challenge tasks.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

yes! every day i learn new skills as well as developing my existing skills. the work requires the combination of new and existing skills. we are also encouraged to learn more than required as this will make the whole process easier.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

as just mentioned i have had nothing negative to report up until recently. however i do understand they have to take Covid into account and avoid mixing groups etc.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

all the support i need! between my line manager, mentor and the early careers team i have had all the necessary support. i haven't felt as if i were being carried which is good.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

same as the previous answer. all the necessary support however they arent carrying me, which as mentioned is good!
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

my first year is all mainly practical based and i feel this will give me a good appreciation for what is required when it comes to designing. at first i didn't understand why i was doing practical work however i now see its use.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

there are in the form of things such as STEM. in college there are the stretch and challenge tasks which arent required for the qualification as they are more advanced.

i am enjoying what im doing. i am receiving the necessary support and can see a clear route for progression. i also feel like my company see that route too and are guiding me along it. very happy in this company
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Cavendish Nuclear?
research the company and the opportunities within, try your best to obtain some form of work experience in the Nuclear/engineering sector. perhaps even an internship. also be sure to make as many contacts as you can and leave a good impression.
