Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am training for a L3 teaching assistant. I have to complete monthly workshops which last about 6 hours. In between workshops we have to do on the job training and do any additional study, for example watching videos or reading and forums.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I like the amount of resources that are available, the quick and accessibility I get from my mentor. I like the fact that I am not the best with technology but there is always some one to help. I also have mentoring regarding my functional skills. This course covers all areas and abilities.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have gained so much in a short space of time. I have learnt that its not just about teaching children, I am learning about their well being and health and keeping them safe both to themselves on online safety. Also learning about mental health in children and how that can impact their learning.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The course is structured very well, your workshops are monthly you have topics to complete before and after the workshop, you are given enough time to complete each workshop. when you attend a workshop there are fun creative activities to complete the six hours fly by, it is fun learning.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I have various support from my employer be it their time or experience it is always there I just have to ask. I have numerous resources that I can use, from technical support to asking teaching questions or even if I am struggling with my functional skills I have complete support.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My training provider is very supportive, I have six weekly progress reports with my mentor and my employer, any issues or problems are dealt with, but if there are any issues prior to a meeting I can still get in touch with my mentor. My mentor is always quick to respond and assist me.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Since starting this course it as given me so much confidence and more knowledge to help me with the children. I have gained invaluable experience so far, about things I knew nothing about. The things I do know have been improved upon. I am learning new ways to deal with Maths and English with the on going support of my mentors and the resources they offer.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Due to the current Covid situation a lot of the social activities are now starting up. For most part a lot of the activities have had to be through Zoom or Micro soft team meets.

The course is time manageable even if you have a busy family, its broken down into bite size workshops, Mentors are always on hand to help with any questions no matter how many times you ask. There are numerous resources available to help with any ability. They have the time and the patience to help you get through this course.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Crosby Management Training Ltd?
Go for it what you got to lose, its a very accessible course with help all the way. It as manageable bite size workshops which are made for any ability. You can do this course whilst doing a full time job. The mentors are always willing to assist you.
