Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Day to day tasks can vary, depending on the requests that come in each day. This may mean looking at restrictions for each country for entry requirements, reviewing transport invoices to be sent to individual departments or working on improving our TMC tool for reporting or booking purposes. There are also weekly tasks that need to be completed such as reviewing data and creating master spreadsheets on travel.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy my program as I feel like I learn a lot daily with either my department or through my apprentice provider. I constantly receive new tasks and feel supported on with all aspects of my work and my learning. It is a supportive environment where you can ask questions.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt a lot about Excel and the functions that are available on the tool; such as the Pivot tool and other shortcut formulas. My communicate skills have also been improved to reflect the professional environment from when to email someone, have a video call or even message them over teams.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My apprenticeship program has a clear structure to it in the masterclasses we learn the overall topic for our assignment then in our 1:1 meeting this task guidelines are explained and the people in my organization are willing to help give advice on the topics so that we can complete our assignments to a high standard.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
They are really supportive since joining my department my line manger checks in with me in the morning and at end of day. To see how I am getting on with tasks and see my completed work. Also the HR team have check up calls with the apprentices as a group and individually.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
They are really supportive, breakdown assignments and explain how you can achieve the highest level with all your work. There is an open communication with them of you have questions you can email them receiving support. Plus the community page offers support from other apprentices and resources to support your off the job training.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
It helps me better communicate with my line manger, was a good introduction to the world of work by giving a overview of how you should behave when facing your role and when facing your assignments.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes despite, being online due to covid we have had apprentice nights to informally get to know each other. Plus, there are coffee morning with senior members of staff and other departments to get to know people who are not in your team allowing a great ways to network within your origination.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Christie's to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The company offers great opportunities to learn about art and get to see some amazing objects that are going up for auction. Plus, they support there employees and offer great benefits. It feels like an that values organization that wants there apprentices to feel support and progress there career for the long term.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Christie's?
My advice would be to keep an open mind to the different roles offered at Christie's. Before the apprenticeship, I didn't know which business area I wanted to follow, but after being given the opportunity to join the travel department, I have loved how varied the day to day tasks can be.
