Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Ensure the team have all the data needed for their role, attend customer meetings and respond to enquiries. Schedule training sessions and invite relevant persons. Upload training data and health and safety data to companies systems. Set up customer accounts and occasionally attend industry shows, which includes meeting customers face to face and some marketing.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I do enjoy the study and applying it to my work. It is hard work studying and working but I enjoy being in a team and feel that doing both together is more enjoyable than just studying as you lack some of the interaction with just studying. I would do this programme again if I had the chance.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes, biggest skill I've learnt is about team work and communication. Working alongside my study has meant I can apply what I am learning in to a real world situation. I have also been able to update my Microsoft skills and attend development sessions available to all employees on Excel, conflict resolution and resilience.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Pretty well organised, 1 day a week is a study day where I can shut off from the role and then the other 4 days is work. We have frequent sessions with the training provider and there are support meetings for us to join in to ask any questions on the course.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I have been given 20% of my work week to apply to study and was encouraged to join this program so I feel I am well supported with completing my apprenticeship. I have also been really grateful for the senior leaders spending time supporting me with information / data for my assignments.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
As mentioned, we have weekly drop in sessions for support and then the module leader also has a drop in support session called an 'open voice' where we can go to ask questions or get advice. I also have a monthly session with a skills coach to monitor my progress so I feel we are well supported.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I've learnt so much about business, finance and decision making. As well as how teams work and how to manage people and become a good leader so have been able to apply all this to my role and have had good feedback and the changes or improvements have been noticed.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There is a sports and social club you can join, we have a christmas party each year open to all employees and there are also numerous sports teams (Netball, Cricket, Football) I've not seen a networking event however there are other development programs you can join where you can network.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Cummins to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The core values of the company really resonate with me and since I've been with them I have been given opportunity to grow and develop. I didn't go to university but I feel the work experience I have here and the chance to do programmes like the one I am on is a better fit for me, and therefore, yes I would recommend.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Cummins?
Be open minded and take opportunities when they come your way. For the interview make sure you have researched the Cummins core values, mission statement etc as they are key. Firm advocate that you get out what you put in and I see that here. there is the opportunity to succeed if you are willing. :)
