Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I provide Fibre to the premises. This can vary between working overhead or under ground. This delivers an excellent service for the customer.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
It’s an excellent programme. From first point of training, to meeting new people and then to start buddying before going live and doing your own jobs. You become your own boss when you’re out on the field! It’s excellent!

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Learnt how to wire an existing copper feed. Learnt to install fibre to the prem.
learnt how to safely work using tetra and other safety equipment/PPe. I have a better understanding of how a network works.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

Very organised. I know exactly what I am doing and when. Everything is communicated excellently.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Tons of support. From the get go there has always been someone on had to help and assist. The team I am in is also amazing and all really look after each other.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

This has been better than I expected. The support has been continuous. I never feel like I am left too it and couldn’t ask for more.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It gives me the fundamentals of my role, which is going to help me drive forward to have an excellent career with Openreach. I see myself being here in the long term.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

We have groups we are involved in within our teams. Due to covid this has been reduced but once things start to open up again then there will be more on.

Why?
It already feels like a company I can have my fullest career with. Any friends that were interested I would 100% recommend. It’s the reason people work here for 30+ years.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT Group?
Do not hesitate. My background is sales/customer service. I have never been hands on. I absolutely love it!
