Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
we have to attend a daily stand up every morning talking about what were doing today, what we did yesterday and any blockers. Then we would work on our tasks which we have to complete. There are lots of meetings in between regarding your tasks and meetings about your apprenticeship program
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
i really enjoy my programme. however as the switch between uni and working, we haven't really had a chance to properly get stuck into coding proper applications. but now that uni is over, we are able to work on actual applications which is fun. however understanding the code base is very hard.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
yes. i have gained more confidence, have become more organised than i was before and learnt to be proactive as when working with taks, there are lots of things which you dont know. so you have to be proactive and contact the people who can help you with your tasks

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
it is quite organised. you have 8 week uni blocks and then work for couple months and then uni again for 8 weeks. after this we are working till the next university year starts. sometimes the manager doesnt be caught up with the apprenticeship when they should be in the circle.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
quite a bit actually. they are very helpful and then there's other graduates to help me with tasks when i am stuck. the career coach is also very helpful and there for you to talk to. i have some medical conditions and they give me a lot of support and allow me to attend appointments
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
they are very helpful. when i am stuck on something or need extra help, they are always there to give me support and help me when im stuck. they are always there to talk to and understand if you need an extension or if things aren't really going as well as they normally are.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
it does help as you have the opportunity to learn web systems which really helps with the tasks of my role because i am working on a web based application which requires you to learn some html, javascript etc. and the university course really helps me with understanding these tasks.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
there are definitely professional networking events but i do not really know much about the others since i have been working from home. as a result, i do not know about any sport teams or any social activities since i have been at home since the start of the programme.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Barclays to a friend?
Yes
Why?
they are very helpful. you learn a lot on the job whilst at university. they give you lots of support and they have good pay. the people there are amazing and everyone is kind and friendly. it also allows you to build up your skills and develop new skills too
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Barclays?
You have to be proactive. it is not like college where you would kind of be spoonfed. you have to be willing to put in effort and put in full effort every day. just be yourself, and be willing to learn in your spare time too. it is best to do research into Barclays before you apply, so you know whether its right for you
