Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

As a Barclays Apprentice hired as a Technical Delivery Manager my day to day job role includes stakeholder management, project impact analysis reviews, project calls and management emails. I also manage implementation which involves documentation creation for audit of code implementation as well as release planning and monitoring of delivery.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I rolled off May 6th 2021.
I enjoyed my experience. I enjoyed the opportunity to get my foot in the door of a well known blue chip company. I have enjoyed the overall ability to pick up side of the desk non BAU projects to better myself and my skill development.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

New skills are all technical in nature:
- COBOL code development skills
- DevOps collaboration tools
- Organising and pulling together impact analysis's
- Resource management

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

Very well organised. Clear line managers and escalation managers. Clear points of escalation for any Apprentice issues. Good relationship with MMU training provider, clear days in which training occurs. Good amount of MMU reviews and objective settings.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Degree level course content supports better performance in work due to development of personal skills such as organisation/ time management and technical skills such as system design, COBOL code development etc

Why?
Good people, good course structure, good support system, good amount of reviews and objective setting. Good and fair performance reviews each year. Monetary bonus's each year annually. Good pay, good career opportunities.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Barclays?
Be bold, be clear on your interests and talents so you can be put in a team where they can flourish. Be open to learning something new, be open to working hard and taking every opportunity you are given.
