Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Day to day I am carrying out business analysis work within the technology and data department, working on projects focussed on either IT, business transformation or process improvement. Day to day tasks include managing relationships with stakeholders, analytical work, process modelling plus much more.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy it. The working culture is very relaxed, but I also feel I am fully supported. Everyone is really friendly and I'm made to feel like a part of the team, not just an apprentice who's there to help out. It's really exceeded my expectations.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt so much since I started. From using IT programmes, to stakeholder management, analytical skills and also personal skills. I feel I can confidently lead meetings and elicit information and requirements from a wide range of audiences.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
It's structured well, but there is also a lot of freedom given. I am given adequate time to study, but there is no fixed day I have to fit this in. TfL are very happy to support how you tend to work best and frequent 121s help.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Plenty. I also know I can ask for more whenever this is needed. I am never made to feel like any question is silly and am encouraged to try things and be pushed out of my comfort zone.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Plenty. I am able to allocate 1 day per week officially towards studying, however when I have needed to I have always been able to take more. Again it's very relaxed and focussed around what works for you.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Very well. Since doing the role I've enjoyed seeing the theory I've learned be used in day to day tasks and I really think doing the qualification is helping me in my project work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes there's lots of networking events (albeit virtually at the moment). There are social and sports clubs and I have had a chance to get involved even though I started this apprenticeship from home. It has been so valuable to make contacts outside of my team.

Would you recommend Transport for London to a friend?
Yes
Why?
You are supported well, there's plenty to get inspired about here and your managers are really devoted to your development. There are lots of opportunities to succeed and you really are treated like a valued member of the team.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Transport for London?
Apply! Research TfL's values and really think about what you would want to do to make a difference here. Think about what you can offer TfL in the wider picture. Be yourself and be keen to take on opportunities.
