Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
I would create and provide announcement materials for IPOs and SPACs. I would compile weekly market updates that would be sent out to clients. I worked in origination as well, spending a lot of time on RFPs, relevant discussions, and attending client meetings.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was given a lot of responsibility, which I was ecstatic about! It was challenging but not overwhelming, the perfect balance. I felt like a part of the team and that I was actually contributing meaningful work!

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I not only gained numerous soft skills, but I was most excited to be able to use dealogic, factset, and bloomberg software as I was not familiar with them before. I also learned about the Syndicate process for equity capital markets related deals.

I received great support with the work I was assigned. I always felt comfortable asking questions. I made great relationships with my team and they would constantly check up to ensure I was on the right track!

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The culture of my team was very mentor oriented. We built great relationships because everyone was genuinely so welcoming and friendly. The team was also very understanding and provided great support and encouragement.

If one is applying to Deutsche Bank I would definitely make sure I make the effort to build up market and industry knowledge, because I think that will help your understanding of teams and roles before hand. On top of that I think you should be willing to help, motivated, enthusiastic, and friendly to be successful at Deutsche Bank.
