Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Working within a project management team, responsible for drafting project-related documents such as business cases, monitoring and reporting on project progress and liaising with other business functions and contractors. Types of projects include technical components for military platforms.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
The Civil Service code ensures a flexible, inclusive and positive culture.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have gained qualifications in project management and project controls, as well as having opportunity to go on range of internal courses and go to talks from across Civil Service. I have learned skills to manage complex projects within a large organisation.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The programme was structured and engaged the scheme cohort to work with the cohort to continuously improve the experience. Being part of a large organisation can be challenging however part of the lessons to learn are how to navigate large organisations and teams.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
There was a good level of support and consider the team to be fair, flexible and inclusive. However when working as part of a large organisation and organisational policy and procedure these sorts of organisations are sometimes not as nimble as a private or small organisation.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
I was given some flexibility regarding having time for revising and preparation, and also given a mentor to help me, as well as put on a 'crash course'.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
My qualifications gave me a strong understanding of the fundamentals of project management to then build on.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are a very range of activities and networking events, both in the organisation and through the wider Civil Service, from social outings, to volunteering, to innovation groups.
