Trainee engineer, providing new fibre lines to customer and business premises. Also maintaining existing lines and fault finding
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Very enjoyable, time given to learn on the job in addition to completing the qualification.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Lots of newly learned skills mainly splicing fibre and climbing skills where climbing ladders of poles.

Very well organised and a good structure, an option for extra days to complete documentation may be beneficial
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Good support, have numerous colleagues available on the phone or nearby to help with any issues. Our assessor is always very responsive as well

Lots of support, very responsive. Always available to discuss nay issues
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel as though my job is very much learning on the job. The initial training was incredibly helpful and allowed me to perform well
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

None that I am aware of, however social events at the current time are very difficult to manage with Covid.

Would you recommend BT Group to a friend?
Yes

Very fair employer, very helpful and I feel as though if I am willing to push myself the opportunity for progress is there.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT Group?
Openreach hire from all backgrounds and you don't necessarily need relevant skills to be hired as training for this will be provided. Don't hesitate to apply if you are unsure just go for it!
