Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role is different every day, which I find really exciting. I am required to keep up to date with what's going on in the media, and I do this in the form of a weekly report that analyses social media insights to do with WarnerMedia and that of our competitors. In addition, I regularly interact with colleagues internationally to help deliver the companies international communications activities.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I am really enjoying my time at WarnerMedia. My job enables me to research things that I'm interested in and network with people from all over the company. I work in a small but incredibly supportive and friendly team, and there are many opportunities to connect with people from the rest of the company.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I started as a Level 3 Apprentice with WarnerMedia and now I'm a Degree Apprentice. In my time here I have developed my skills professionally and personally, as well as learned new ones. WarnerMedia offers training courses on a variety of topics, and apprentices are invited to monthly sessions where we hear from interns/apprentices about their department.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I first joined WarnerMedia in 2019, and my induction was informative and welcoming. I started by meeting the whole team and learning about the business. I have received training on various things that have helped me in my role, from Excel to how to write a professional email. In my time here, I have gradually been given more responsibility and I'm treated like an equal.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My manager is incredibly supportive and has helped me progress in my time at WarnerMedia. The HR team are easy to contact and always available if you need any advice. In addition, I receive lots of support from my apprenticeship provider, and through the university, I have a degree mentor who can help with any academic or professional questions I may have.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I have a degree apprentice mentor who does weekly drop-in sessions where you can ask questions and get advice on academic topics. In addition, there is a student support team. I receive regular newsletters that inform students about upcoming opportunities, such as networking and professional skills, and there are plenty of other activities to get involved in and develop your skills.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I feel that my qualification helps me perform better in my role by teaching me about how businesses work in a broader way than I learn in my role. I have completed 3 modules since beginning my current qualification, and within these modules, I have learned about research, marketing, finance, amongst many other business aspects.
I have been given a lot of freedom in my qualification to apply my studies to my role, and this has allowed me to research the entertainment landscape in-depth and give me a greater understanding of the entertainment industry.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
While the pandemic has removed the possibility of in-person events (although I did attend some before the pandemic began), WarnerMedia has made sure that all the apprentices stay well connected with regular sessions where people can network and get to know each other, like they would if they were in the office. There are also volunteering opportunities people can get involved in, such as the Sleep Out with Centrepoint (which has become the Stay Up in order to stay Covid friendly).

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Warner Bros. Discovery to a friend?
Yes
Why?
WarnerMedia is a friendly and welcoming workplace that gives you the opportunity to connect with people from all over the world. It's an extremely exciting workplace and a brand that is loved by many which is amazing to be a part of. There are plenty of opportunities for progression, and apprentices are treated as equals.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Warner Bros. Discovery?
Apply for a role that you're passionate about and one that excites you, be yourself during the assessment day/interview process so that you're comfortable and confident. The assessment day is fun and not daunting or intimidating, and if you don't get a role this time around then don't be disheartened as there will be more opportunities to apply in the future.
