Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Managing contractors, contracts, schedules, interfaces, teams, designers etc.
Working with various teams to ensure activities are completed and allow the project to progress.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy it, it is perfectly aligned to my job role (Assistant Project Manager), for which I work on a construction project.
I am learning a lot on the job and through my course so I can't fault it.
My university is very well organised which helps a lot.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

Very, my university has a lot of experience and they have many initiatives, ways of working, support channels etc. in place to help make everything easier.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

A huge amount, I could not ask for more support.
If I need more time on my uni course I will get it, if I need to work flexibly I can, if I need to get exposed to new areas of work I will work on a new project.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

A huge amount, I have regular check ins with my uni, my tutors have a great team and are always on hand to help.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

A huge amount, I am much more knowledgeable now in terms of construction and management, which has enabled me to excel in the project work I am involved with.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, there are get togethers with other apprentices, channels to speak to others in, initiatives across the projects I work on etc.

Why?
It's a great place to work, they value their staff highly, they are very flexible, they work on great projects, there is a lot of trust across the firm, there is a lot to learn both internally and externally and it is great
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Arup?
Do your research, go for a job you are interested in, you cannot beat being enthusiastic. Be yourself, don't stress and give it your all.
