FTTP Service Delivery engineer Review

The role requires you to go to customers houses and install connection either going overhead or underground depending on what BT plant is available near the property. You need good communication skills as you are in contact with customers frequently and a good fitness level as the job can be physically demanding.

The organisation is very well structured and there are numbers for almost any problem that you could encounter along the way. They even offer things such as private counselling to engineers and financial help support lines too. In terms of organization, I have never felt as though I didn't know what the goals and targets of the team were so through good communication I would say the organisation is very well organised.

I feel very well supported and have many colleagues I can call when I am unsure of what to do with a specific problem. You can always call the managers and patch leads also so the support system they have in place is very good for new employees like myself.

I have never felt as though they weren't very supportive throughout my Openreach journey and am very pleased with the way things are going as a result. My training provider is very good and always has the time to answer any questions on subjects or topics that I don't quite understand.

I feel as though I have a much better understanding of company policies due to the training and this in turn helps me perform to the Openreach standards in my everyday role. Once I have my qualification I believe that I will gain new confidence in my role and perform to higher standards out in the field.

I would recommend Openreach to a friend because they are extremely supportive to their employees, at least in my experience. I would also recommend them to a friend because the job itself is very rewarding and fun, you feel as though you are making an actual impact on people's live and you know through the job a valuable skill.
