4/5
On a day to day basis everyday is different! The things i do everyday are site inductions, ensuring that daily briefings/toolbox talks have been done. Attend on site/virtual meetings to do with the project. Talk to subcontractors about their work and if there is anything that they need help with. Organise deliveries.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I really enjoy my apprenticeship. I really like how the job varies and how Bam allow you to shape your career to what you feels fit. By this I mean if you prefer or would like to go into a different position such as quantity surveyor or site engineer, they would help you to learn more about this allow you to progress.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Whilst working on my apprenticeship, I have learnt a range of different things. I am studying a Level 4 HNC in Construction site Supervisor. this course allows me to see a range of different topics such as legal and statutory, construction technology, science and materials. being on site, you get to learn lots of different skills and how to communicate with different subcontractors.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Compared to other apprenticeships, I would say that it is a well structured programme. The college is done in a block release programme. This allows you to really study/focus on your work and not have to do a day release on site, and juggle. you are able to have a 'uni experience' as well as earning a salary. Bam education team are free to talk to any time, as well as the college.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Bam are a great employer for giving support. Coming into an apprenticeship can be slightly daunting as you're not sure what you can expect but they are there whenever you need them whether that you line manager, HR team, education team there are a range of different people who you can contact if you need to.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
There is a lot of support received when working on site as you have a mentor. You work with you mentor through different knowledge skills and behaviours. The attitude from mentors and managers are highly positive and they want to work with you to help you progress and develop within their company.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
By doing various mandatory course units at leeds college of building, it help provide you with some basic knowledge with working on site. this can vary to each site and whether your site does these specific functions. from working on site i learn more about my role everyday with also my qualifications.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Bam Midlands have a sports and social club which you can join for about £2 a month. they have been holding virtual events through covid and will also be doing more events as restrictions lift. this allows you to meet other colleagues which you might not see whilst working on site.

My advice for applying to a bam apprenticeship is be yourself and enjoy it as much as your selling yourself to Bam, they are trying to sell themselves to you. the application process is not stressful. The assessment day is a great thing to enjoy and experience, it has a range of different activities looking at working as a team and then a 1-1 interview.
