Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
I attended Summer learning and story hour talks from the Aon team twice a week, learning about the firm's culture. I worked on multiple projects during the day such as entering lines into excel for data validation. Needing to interact and email my team members for relevant pieces of information. I conducted meetings with other Aon interns to work on the Aon United Project which roughly took 2 hours a week. Then made a presentation and report.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
With my own projects I have taken full responsibility for the completion of job tasks and I have consistently worked without needing to be monitored. This has enabled me to learn a lot.
I have also been given responsibility when organising meetings for my Aon United project. This is where we meet up two times a week, to discuss our ideas further and make a report and presentation. We were given autonomy in this project, without needing to be supervised.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture and general atmosphere was absolutely wonderful. Everyone at the office was so friendly and welcoming, really making you feel part of a team. The general working hours were 9-5pm, and no one forced you to stay longer. The work-life balance was brilliant, there was so much support from the BRG groups and the wellbeing initiatives they offer at Aon, with so many resources at their hand, there is no wonder why everyone is so happy at Aon.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I have thoroughly enjoyed this. Every day is a fresh opportunity to learn and learn something new. The culture and environment has been at upmost importance, and this has really allowed me to enjoy the internship. The projects that I was given were stimulating enough, challenging yet I enjoyed working on them throughout the past few weeks. The talks that Aon offered were also brilliant, to get to virtually meet and ask questions to the CEO of Aon was the highlight of the internship.
