Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I help to maintain the fibre network around the Uk. On a daily basis I will do a variety of tasks; fixing fibre to a customers house, climbing poles and fixing the fibre wires to a customers house.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I’m enjoying it so far. Yes it’s challenging but it’s nice to be learning new skills while getting paid for it. I’ve met some nice colleagues along the way and have enjoyed driving around London too. Overall I’ve really enjoyed it. No complaints so far.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt a lot of new skills including how to climb ladders and poles safely. How to pull cables and rope through ducts. Lots of health and safety and working near a road and what equipment to use.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The training programme is very well organised, especially considering how many recruits they have been bringing on every week in recent months. The training is organised and they also prepare all our accommodation and food for each week we are working away from home. You get given a detailed plan of what you’ll be learning each week.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I’m happy with the support I’ve received from all the managers, trainers and coordinators etc. They always check in on you and help you in any way that they can.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
So far I’ve received plenty of support with regards to my qualifications.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
It’s a massive help. It gives me a better understanding of how to work more productive and in a safer way.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
I’ve only just been with the company for over 1 month, so I can’t really comment on this yet. I haven’t heard of any such thing but maybe I’ll hear about this soon.
