Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I am responsible for delivering an apprenticeship to new bus drivers. Part of the day is delivering a PowerPoint relating to the workshop and the rest of the session is devoted to group discussions and tasks that are allocated via an E portfolio. After the session is complete I then need to mark work and provide feedback.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
To be brutally honest, at the beginning I thought why am I doing this? I'm already qualified to do the job that I enjoy.
With the help of Tracy (TDO) I got a better understanding of things that I have never really needed in the past but now realise build on my arsenal of tools at my disposal. I look forward to my sessions, thanks to Tracy.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
My apprenticeship has been one long learning curve for me. I have learned the theory behind a lot of what I do. I have also learned how to develop meaningful sessions, ensuring that equality and diversity are paramount. Although I had a basic knowledge of some of the things taught, my understanding is definitely enhanced.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme has flowed seamlessly from the beginning. We started off slowly to ease us into the subject and as time went on the teaching was ramped up to what I consider a comfortable level. Tracy was always on hand to offer support when I didn't quite understand a subject. The breakout sessions that we had helped immensely and meeting the others in the session helped with my progression.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Where to start with this question? I have had so much support from my HOS, Line Manager, TDO and colleagues. When I was asked to produce a business report, it was something that I had never had to do previously. My HOS got involved and gave me advice on how to complete it,
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Tracy was always on hand to give support to all of us on the course. During 121 sessions, Tracy would put my mind at rest when I felt that I was falling behind. The qualification would have been easier if I had already been in an L&D role and wanting to develop but I cannot thank Tracy enough for her help and patience.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
As my role is apprenticeship delivery the course has helped in so many ways and especially when I am wanting to develop new training sessions. I have never had to deal with Stakeholders previously but now feel empowered to approach them with new ideas, knowing I can back up my ideas with the right reasoning.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
We have had a couple of team events within our sector but because we scattered all across England, there is no chance of getting us all together. As a company we are supporting MIND this year as our charity of choice. We are encouraged to walk and to record the mileage covered with photos and share them company wide.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Realise?
Be yourself. Realise are a fairly new company in the guise it is in now but the progression has been extraordinary and that is down to having the right people in the right jobs. You would need to be a curious learner and know that you can always rely on colleagues for advice and support.
