Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
I have exposure to DCM SSA workflows, working with my team in London but also having interaction with the trading floor for secondary trading analysis. Shadowing the execution processes for the new issuances. Participating in investors/clients calls. Refreshing spread and positions for clients. Preparing reports/league tables for internal analysis or external pitches.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was given responsibility since day one. At the beginning, senior analysts/associate checked my work to see if it was done properly. As weeks progressed, they trusted my work much more and they did not need to check everything I was doing.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I have received great support and guidance. Throughout the internship I could always count on my HR for everything that concerned her tasks, she was always available. I could count on each member of my team, both in the office or working from home, whenever I had doubts. I could also rely on people from other desks/divisions, they were always available for coffe chats or support whenever I needed help to understand better what they do.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company is very inclusive. The only negative thing was that many days I felt alone in the office because most of the people were working from home. In terms of general atmosphere, I felt part of Citi from the beginning, I felt comfortable in working in that environment. One negative side was that there were no social events organized in person on the floor or outside, or virtual meetings to talk about something that is not work-related.
