Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

An overview of my role while working for London Underground and the day to day involvement I have is extensive. I a currently being placed all over the different sectors within the track departments across London Underground t get a wide and general overview of each area. Daily I observe and report back what I have learnt.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

From my experience with the apprenticeship that I am currently based on I thoroughly enjoy the programme that I am based on as I take great interest in the area that I am currently studying. I enjoy all aspects of the programme that I am on due to the interest I have.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

While being on these phase of the apprenticeship I have learnt a wide range of new skills and really developed some of the skills I had already developed previously. I have developed my communication skills, my descriptive skills and overall my hand skills in the engineering track sector at London underground.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

Through my experience so far on my apprenticeship that I am currently on it has been incredibly well organised and the programme has been very well structured. All parts of my apprenticeship have been clearly explained to me and mapped out so I know at what point I am completing each part.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

From the beginning of my apprenticeship up until my current point in my apprenticeship I have received a lot of support from my employer. At every stage I am given the most support possible and at every stage if i have any questions I am able to ask my employer and get this clarified.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

From my current experience that I have had while being on my current apprenticeship I have received lots of support from the training providers that I have had while working to all the different training qualifications that London Underground requires me to obtain to pass all sections of my apprenticeship.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

From my current experience while being on my apprenticeship at the moment is that the qualifications that my trainer is providing is greatly helping me to perform better when working in my role. This is because all of the qualifications I am working towards allow me to expand my knowledge for my role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

From starting my apprenticeship when I started back in 2019 London Underground have always offered extra curricular activities that I have been able to get involved with. These activities that I have been able to get involved with range from networking events to the London underground football league teams that each line has.

Would you recommend Transport for London to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would definitely recommend my employer to a friend as all the support that I have received throughout my apprenticeship has been great and allowed me to really fulfil my potential that I believe I have. They have allowed me to expand my knowledge and skills in an area I am interested in.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Transport for London?
From my experience when I applied to transport for London as an employer all the way back in 2019 would be to focus on practicing before any interviews or video interviews. This makes you much more confident and calm when it comes to the real event which really helped me.
