Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I create and analyse reports for the service management team for Skype for Business. Analyse the number of users on the system, finances, how many licenses we need. I also create articles for the service desk and help analyse incidents. I am currently working with the project to help roll out MS Teams to all colleagues.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy the programme and feel very lucky to be working with such highly skilled people. I’m very excited about my career at barclays and have also recommended to my friends that they should apply for the apprenticeship scheme. One of my friends has been accepted. Once in a lifetime opportunity.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes I have learnt a lot of management techniques such as managing the first line service desk and dealing with the agenda. I have also learnt lots of skills within excel and how to create graphs etc. I went on a course to increase my excel knowledge. I’m also working towards my ITIL foundation qualification.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
It is very well organised, I have 1 to 1 meetings with my career coach and line manager weekly, I have a structured programme which I need to complete in order to pass the apprenticeship, I have already completed my qualification with a distinction. I am going to start university in September funded by barclays.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
As previously mentioned I receive a lot of support, I have 1 to 1s with my line manager and careers coach weekly. We also have a team catch up every morning while working from home so that we know that everyone is okay and we can have support if necessary.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I received lots of support from QA, we had catch ups every 4 weeks and I passed with very high marks thanks to my training provider. I didn’t get to meet them for the last half due to coronavirus but they made everything very easy to access online for us.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My qualification helped me to understand the fundamental steps in a business and how to manage a project etc, these have all helped me day to day and I also think it has helped towards me completing my ITIL foundation qualification as the skills are the same throughout the different courses.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes there are many extra activities to get involved in at barclays, as an example, at the campus I work at we have football pitches, tennis courts and a gym, there are clubs you can join, I am currently taking part in a step challenge which I am a team leader for

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Barclays to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Because it is an amazing career opportunity which you would not get with any other employer, there are lots of benefits to working at barclays such as pension schemes, private healthcare, yearly bonuses, competitive salary and friendly people, they are always investing in their employees to ensure they are happy and successful in what they do.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Barclays?
Be yourself and don’t be afraid to speak up for yourself. Ensure you follow the barclays values which are; respect, integrity, service, excellence and stewardship. This will help with the application process to understand these values and how they relate to you, but most importantly be honest and be yourself.
