Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I have just started with Openreach and just finished my first week, which was an induction week. So currently I cannot advise on my day to day role, however once training is completed I will be a Customer Service Engineer visiting customers to rectify Telecommunication issues.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
A lot to take in as an induction week but very interesting and quite intense. The Trainers were knowledgeable, helpful and made courses interesting.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have been on an Advanced Driving Course (theory and practical session). Also Health & Safety course.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The induction program was well organised/structured and set out for the 4 days I attended. This included schedules with times and courses I needed to attend. Overall it was a good set up.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Employer provided an Onsite New Recruit coordinator to help with any queries. Trainers were also helpful and onsite and various support contact numbers if required.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I have just started with Openreach but everyone seems very helpful, so cannot really advise at this moment in time. However with the induction there was lots of guidance and support.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I believe that the training provided will help me perform better in my new role
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
I'm unsure at the moment however there are voluntary initiatives to help with the local community.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BT Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Its a great company with a comprehensive training package. Also its nationwide and telecommunications will always be needed so a good career path. Benefits and salary are good.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT Group?
The application process is 3 stages so be yourself as I did not come from an engineering background. A lot of the initial training (12 weeks) is living away from home. The onboard processing is full on in week 1 induction.
