Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

To be honest I am still finding it out. However from what I know so far it is building and maintaining the Openreach network. I work as a fibre jointer.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I love it. It’s been hard and everything I’m told is something I have not known before but this is how I learn and grow not just as an engineer but as a person.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Many. How to climb a pole, tetra set up, how to use a drill, how to splice fibre, how to introduce cables into a nod. The list goes on. It’s been fantastic however also mentally and physically hard.

Would you recommend BT Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I have currently recommended two friends to join and they are currently in the application process. Openreach is a fantastic company where it can be a career with brilliant training,staff,facilities and benefits. It also gives you skills you wouldn’t get elsewhere and a better understanding of the network.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT Group?
Work hard and it will pay off. Pay attention and listen. No question is ever a stupid question. It’s not easy but then again nothing in life is easy. It will be worth it in the end
