Investment Banking Summer Associate Review

I work in the Energy sector coverage group of Investment Banking at Citi. My role is about supporting on strategic deal mandates and various client pitch materials. I work on all aspects of the deal including financial modelling, pitch/ discussion materials and communicating with Clients on deal matters.
I provide guidance and assistance to analysts in executing the deliverables.

I was given alot of responsibilities and ownership for my own deliverables. But there was also continuous guidance available from the senior team. The staffer ensured that I had the opportunity to work on a variety of deals for me to get maximum exposure towards the work at hand.

I have learnt many technical and analytical skills while working on the strategic and financial legs of the deals. I have gained a thorough understanding of the sector by way of research material and training exercises.
I have also developed my leadership skills as i function within a large team with a number of analysts as well.

I received complete support from all levels in the team. The seniors provided guidance and and trainings for the interns to familiarize with the work. The juniors were also absolutely helpful in assisting and carrying out the deliveables
The HR team was very involved since the start in helping the interns get onboarded, organizing training exercises and helping us to get acquainted with the various teams.

Company culture is very stimulating. Everyone around is very enthusiastic about delivering to the best of their ability and at the same time there is a great amount of collaboration across teams.

I have learnt extensively in these 10 weeks of internship. My goal was to gain a complete exposure to the Investment Banking function and the firm has successfully provided that to me.
