What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
DLA Piper ensured that I finished the insight programme with a greater understanding to the running of commercial law firms. It taught me how business law firms generate revenue, the structures employed, the different practice groups and the significance of clients.
It also taught me how to navigate through the virtual world when working in a business to engage with clients and team members.

- Pay attention to detail when drafting a contract

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Friendly and welcoming from the very first second! If you want a company that appreciates who you are for you, then DLA Piper is the one.
They let us (the attendees) know how important we are to them from the very first sentence which brought a sense of home and comfort. The Graduate Team and all of the DLA Piper lawyers extended sessions for us to speak more about their experiences and answer all of our burning questions. It is worth adding that they sent us an invaluable notebook and pen to help us take notes! (They looked so cool!)

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I loved it! I have never felt more comfortable at a global law firm. I came in thinking it was going to be daunting...and I was wrong. The insight lived up to its name as I spoke to partners, trainees, graduate recruitment about anything and everything necessary to excel in my law career and a career at DLA Piper.
I know I enjoyed it because I ended my sessions feeling refreshed, motivated and enlightened.

Go for it! DLA Piper is a global law firm, it has a presence and is a strong competitor. But what people do not realise ( I am guilty of this) is that all of this stems from their collaborative culture of support and happiness. This internal strength is unparalleled.
The top advice I would give when applying to DLA Piper is to thoroughly research the firm. For example, understand its business model (a full service law firm with a single profit pool). Also, show your personality, they want to know YOU.
